Connie Marlowe Dickerson—a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt—went home to be with her Heavenly Father on April 6, 2016, with her loving husband and sister by her side, after fighting a courageous battle against ALS.

Connie was born to Ruth Lenore Marlowe and Walter Joseph Marlowe on February 13, 1956. Her professional life was spent as an underwriter for some of the most prestigious insurance companies in the world, but what really distinguished Connie was her personal life. Connie, quite simply, loved the Lord, loved life, lived life zestfully, and spread joy everywhere that she went. She was beautiful, smart, funny, tenacious, and extremely talented. She was an accomplished pianist and frequently entertained her family and friends with difficult classical pieces that she spent months mastering every note of; she also did other things with her crafty hands including carpentry, cooking, inventing, quilting, painting, sewing, and an array of home improvement projects (reclaiming dead attic space, installing hardwood flooring, and remodeling kitchens/bathrooms), and excelled at all of them. Indeed, there was nothing beyond her reach because if she could dream it, she could do it. She had a heart for children and animals and was a wonderful mother to her three stepchildren and to her menagerie of dogs and cats (and was frequently known to nurse wild animals back to health). And she was a cherished, loyal, and lifelong friend to the people lucky enough to call her friend.

Connie is survived by her loving husband, Dwayne Dickerson; by her three stepchildren, Brandon Dickerson and wife Melina, Erica Dickerson, and Keri Dickerson; and by her granddaughter Aubree Dickerson. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and David Sproul, and by her brother and sister-in-law, Kip and Diana Marlowe.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, April 16, 2016, 2:00pm (in the chapel) at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Road, Houston, Texas 77024. Reception immediately following the memorial service.

Donations can be made in Connie’s name to the ALS Foundation of Texas (“Gifts In Tribute”):
