Gwen Barber Gemmer, 65, passed away in the comfort of her home in New Braunfels, Texas on October 23rd, 2022. She was born in San Augustine, Texas on February 15, 1957.

Gwen's family moved to the Memorial area in Houston, Texas in 1969. She graduated from Westchester High School in 1975 and studied at Southwest Texas State in San Marcos, Texas.

Gwen's love for travel found her in a fitting career as a very talented and respected travel manager, most notably at MD Anderson Cancer Center with a tenure of 20 years upon retirement in 2017. She was a 9 year breast cancer survivor. Her life's proudest accomplishment was raising her three daughters and grandchildren.

Gwen and Don made a new life for themselves in New Braunfels in 2015. She had a deep connection to music and especially loved seeing live bands in their area. She enjoyed her years of retirement in the hill country, especially the quality time over great food with her family, grandchildren, and friends.

She is survived by her husband Don Gemmer of New Braunfels, TX, children, Hannah Jans, Shannon Hurst and Wiley Robertson, Cassandra and husband Matthew Moxley of Houston TX, grandchildren, Thomas, Bennet and Sally-Mae Jans of Houston, TX, brother Earl Barber and Jennifer Connor of Damascus, MD, sister and brother-in-law Claudia and Joe Owens of Boerne, TX, and many nephews, cousins and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Barber, mother and father Sally and Lloyd Barber, and her uncle Charles Lee.

A Memorial Service was held on Friday, October 28th, 2022 at 3:00pm at Gruene United Methodist Church: 2629 E Common St, New Braunfels, TX 78130.

A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, November 5th, 2022 at 3:00pm at Clay's: 17717 Clay Rd, Houston, TX 77084.
