Mike was really a nice quiet guy. I knew him best from 9th grade when we played soccer together. He stayed in the background for the most part. We called him "Red" because of his flaming hair! Despite all the stereotypes, he was always calm and unflappable. His mom and my mom were best friends. They both had horses in the Buffalo Bayou and were inseparable for years. Even though my family moved back to Dallas in '79 they stayed good friends and I kept up with Mike a little through them.

I was Mike's best friend from the 11th grade onward to Southwest Texas State in San Marcos up and until 1980 when I moved to Southern California.  We both worked at the Bayou Corp.  right out of high school (1977) summer,  installing fireplaces all over Houston.  He went up to school in San Marcos shortly thereafter and I followed a year later.  We shared both a house and an apartment on campus late 1978 thru early 1980.  We had a lot of good times,  with friends

Jimmy Mcnellis, Greg Krause, Hugh Elkins(?),  and others to mention a few.   I am now just learning of his untimely passing here in early 2013.  Last time I saw Mike was in late1982 visiting Houston,  by chance,  at the Astrodome,  watching a Houston Oilers football game.

I was dating a girl at Southwest  Texas State briefly,  that knew Mike and attended the same  school when he was living in London England.  Small world.
