Dona Sue Dawson, 53, of Houston, Texas, passed in her home on Friday July 12th 2013. She was born in Galveston on September 14th 1959 to Lloyd Dawson & Sue Dawson Read.
Dona is survived by her; grandmother Margaret Mitchem, mother and step-father Sue and Bill Read, father and step-mother Lloyd & Georgina Dawson, daughters Courtney Moore (fiancé Brandon Lathan) and Candace Clark (husband Blake), three grandchildren Tyler, Landen, and Addison, brother and sister-in-law Toby (Lloyd) and Jane Dawson, niece Jennifer Dawson, half-sister Cassie Gentry, and other family members. She also left behind her fiancé Ryan Fizia and best friend Kathy Kelley-Campbell.
Dona was a native Texan who lived in Galveston, London, New York, Spain, and finally Houston for most of her adult life.
She was a very talented artisan who loved going to garages sales, resale shops, and antique stores and turned other people's trash into treasures. She was a devoted homemaker, loving mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother who enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved entertaining, throwing parties, and cooking big holiday dinners. Dona was also an avid gardener who loved working in her yard.
Dona Sue always had the most beautiful jewelry, the biggest purses, and the best looking cowboy boots.
She received her first Yorkshire Terrier when she was eight years old while living in London which started her lifelong passion for yorkies. She leaves behind her beloved yorkies, "Hugh" and "Johnny" and grand-puppies, "Jazzy", "Duke", and "Chili-Pepper".
Dona never met a stranger, always had a huge smile, and an infectious laugh. Even though her extended illness slowed her down, it did not stop her. She will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
Visitation for family and friends will take place at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 9 o'clock in the morning followed by a funeral service at 10 o'clock in the morning. Private interment to follow funeral service. We will be having a celebration of her life following the funeral at Brandon and Courtney's home.
