Teresa was a beautiful dancer. Both she and I had a love of dance and I always admired her talent. I remember watching her compete in the high school talent show. She danced so beautifully. I remember thinking about how few in the audience realized the number of years of training that go into making it look so easy and graceful.

I have a nice memory of a sleepover party at her house, since she lived nearby and we shared classes in elementary school. I was always sorry that we drifted apart when we were older.

Teresa was truly kind and sweet and I remember being in awe of her beauty, both inside and out. I never saw her again once we graduated from high school and I am so sad that we have lost her.

She was indeed beautiful! I, too, recall the talent show, when she danced (perhaps improvised) to Bob Seeger's Night Moves. It was hauntingly beautiful. I saw her once at the ballet in later years, just as stunning as always. She is missed.

So, I try not to be public - with my private life. And now as we are all older and reflective - I try to keep my words short, sweet, and to the point.

I met Teresa in our sophomore year at our beloved High School. Myself and two friends, Alan Musgrove and Brent Glaman, went to a party at a apartment complex just off IH10 near the school. I got out of my fine Ford Pinto and turned around an in my face was Teresa. She was standing about as close as two people could stand to each other. At the same time we said "Hi". And that started a three year relationship - with two ons and off's. It was when I left for Texas Tech did we say goodbye which lasted two years.

One afternoon, in April of 1980, my roommate told me there was some good looking blond at the front door. It was Teresa (got my address from my Mom) and she just wanted to talk. We spent about a week together, talking, laughing and just being young and dumb. She had to get back to Houston, but as we all say to ex's - "Call Me." I went my way, she went hers. I never ever thought our love for each other left as we did call each other out of the blue from time to time. There was always something to say.

And then, in 1990, I got a call that I will never forget. Match Maker mom called and she was crying. Teresa had a child, and she became septic post birth, and they could not stop the infection and she had died, leaving her husband and newborn son at the age of 30. It can get worse than that, but not so much. I had just talked to her 9 weeks prior and how excited she was to have a child.

Strange things happen to us all - and as I packed a suit, and started to go home to get ready for a funeral, the first song I heard was Main Street by Bob Seger when I drove from my house. The same song that we sat on my floor in my room at my house and picked out for her talent show dance. It was chosen because of her association with ballet in her studio on Main Street in Houston. The night she danced I just stood there and watched. The song has never left my mind, body or soul. It has haunted me for my life.

So, in honor of you Teresa, as we get older now and our lives begin to reflect - we will see you down on Main Street one of these days. And that haunting song shall live in my mind as long as I am allowed to be on this planet.

It is said to cherish where you are, enjoy where you have been, and smile about it all. I, am smiling about right now. Enjoy my friends I grew up with - life is good - and then it is over. Blessings and Prayers
