In Memory

Charles "Chuk" Scott Sublett - Class Of 1970

Charles Chuk Scott Sublett

Charles Scott "Chuk" Sublett
June 27, 1952 - November 20, 2016

Chuk passed away on November 20, 2016, following a long illness which he had battled courageously.

Chuk was a native Houstonian, graduating from Westchester High School in 1970. He then attended the University of St. Thomas, followed by the University of Texas. His entire professional career was spent in the oil country tubular goods industry; first at Pete Sublett & Company and then with Triad Pipe & Steel Company.

In 1980 he married Mary Nicknish, the love of his life. They have two sons, Tim and Carson. Chuk's family meant everything to him and he loved supporting his sons in all of their athletic endeavors, always encouraging them with "Head, Heart, Hustle!" Chuk loved his dogs and his passions were duck hunting, barbecuing, and watching sports with his best friends and sons in his "mancave." He spent many years volunteering with the Breeders Greeters with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and enjoyed his long association with the Tejas Vaqueros. Chuk's Christian faith was simple and deep.

He is survived by his wife Mary; sons Tim of Houston and Carson of Hawaii; his mother Ruth Sublett; sister Shelley and her husband Gene Jorgensen; sister Judy Sublett Wild; and brothers Casey and Kit; and an abundance of nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his father Pete Sublett; his sister Susie Sublett Martin (WHS 1973); his brother Michael Allyn Sublett (WHS 1978) and Mike's wife Claire; and Judy's husband Larry Wild.

Like Chuk, Mary came from a large family, and he is also survived by his father- and mother-in-law, John and Flo Nicknish, and Mary's many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews and their growing families. Chuk loved them all dearly, as he did his own closely knit family.

He will be missed greatly by all of his family and his many friends.

A memorial service celebrating Chuk's life will be held on December 19, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX officiated by Rev. James McPhail.
