Phil Clipper Fry (1970)

Good friend in high school and college. I lost track of him in the mid-70's after we left Austin and UT. Sad that we never reconnected. We had some great times together.

Steve was a good friend through and through to everyone he knew, and still talked about even though he left us (and especially Martha, Steve Jr., and the twins!) back in '92. We'll always laugh and smile even if we're misty-eyed... whenever we think about you Steve!! Such a kind, jovial, clever, and gracious man!

I have so many wonder memories of "Sumo"...Felix and the Swithblades...his dog "Oscarina"...I am so sorry to have fallen out of touch with him...

Wm. Blake Winchell (1971)

Steve and I were in a 'band' together in junior high school - the height of the 'Monkees' fame.  I'll never forget him banging the drums on 'Last Train to Clarksville'.

James "Jim" Fred Creel, Jr. (1969)

Steven and I were in the band together at Westchester High. we were both in the drum section and had a blast on band trips to football games. Also went to his house numerous times with Barry Medford and took turns playing on his trap set.

He died way to young.

Steve was so completely full of life and fun.  First time I got drunk was wtih Steve going on a Journalism trip to Austin.  He gave me the number of the payphone at the local 7-11 to give the school nurse as my "dad's office number" so I could get out of class early to drive to Austin.  I got busted for it (I think the school nurse knew that one), but so many great memories with Steve.  I did see him in our 20's and he'd married a very devout wife.  He quickly told me "don't bring up any high school stories".  I've missed having him in the world.  He'd have been a very cool father and grand father.  So sorry he never got the chance.

Steve and I were great pals our senior year and spend a fair amount of time together.  We wrote lots of letters after we went to college, I found some of them recently.  He was so fun, and a gentleman, and I had lots of fun hanging out with his parents and family on a number of occasions too.  So sad when I heard he was gone!!!
