Charles Randall "Randy" Bell - Class Of 1972

Charles Randall Bell

October 8, 1953 - June 12, 2016

Charles Randall (Randy) Bell, transitioned on June 12, 2016, aged 62. Randy had a kind spirit possessing wry wit. He was a gifted pontificator with a deep appreciation of the ironic. Born October 8, 1953 in New Orleans, Louisiana and growing up in Houston, Texas, Randy's joy and appreciation for his family grew over the years and flourished even more recently with social media, something that opened his world completely and joyfully, albeit he hated "LOL".
An athlete in younger days, he played football, was a standout swimmer, and cross country runner in New Orleans and his favorite saying was "Don't give up; don't ever give up." and just before his death he spoke of his siblings as "MY TEAM IS THE GREATEST TEAM OF ALL TIME (Ali). His favorite hero was Mohammad Ali.
Words were important to him, as he studied English at the University of Houston, and then Criminology at Sam Houston University.
He is survived by his Siblings: Martha Nugent, John Bell (Leslie), Suzanne Batchelor (John), Allison Field (Randy), Tobin Bell, and Bianca Bell; Stepfather, Troyce "Papa" Cleghorn (Faye); Stepmother, Beatrice Bell; Niece, Kate Bell and Nephews, Kyle Nugent and James Bell. Randy was preceded in death by his Mother, Leona Olivier Cleghorn, Father, Charles Ramirez Bell, Brother-in-law, Louis Nugent and Nephew, Ryan Nugent. In memory of Randy, donations can be made to: COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Coral Gables, Florida 33134.
A celebration of his life is planned at a later date.
