In Memory

Judy Carole Page (Maynard) - Class Of 1974

Judy Carole Page Maynard

April 19, 1956 - May 27, 2013

Judy Page Maynard was welcomed into heaven, a new angel, on Memorial Day, Monday, the 27th of May 2013.
Judy was known to family and friends as a beautiful, kind and generous spirit throughout her too-short life. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Bill Maynard; her daughter and son-in-law, Merideth and Jay Richards; her son, Thomas Maynard; her step-son, Sonny Maynard and his wife Stacey; and her three granddaughters, Summer, Kristen and Savannah Maynard, who all knew her as "Grandmommy." She also leaves behind her loving mother, Maurice Wilson and her dear Aunt Frankie West Davis; her brother, Russell Page and his wife Anny; and her niece, Katy Hall and her husband Tony. Many of her cousins and friends here on this Earth will also miss her greatly.
Rejoicing at her arrival in Heaven are her son Jared Wayne Maynard; both of her fathers, Bobby Page and Robert 'Babe' Wilson; her beloved Aunt Carla Russell; and fun-loving cousin Phillip West; as well as her grandparents, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Judy was born on the 19th of April 1956, in Ft Worth, Texas. She graduated from Westchester High School in Houston, where she played the flute in the symphonic marching band. She then left home to attend college at Texas A&M University where she was a charter member of Zeta Tau Alpha and cherished the friendships made with her sorority sisters. She then moved back to Houston and graduated from the Bauer School of Business at the University of Houston with a BBA in Accounting in 1982. Upon graduation she began working for Houston Petroleum as a revenue accountant, meanwhile helping her Aunt Carla at her own accounting firm. God gave Judy a brilliant and restless mind; thus she was ever eager to jump into a new learning adventure, and pursued many hobbies and interests with great success. In 1988 she pursued her passion in real estate and obtained her brokers license. From there she went into interior design.
Eventually, her heart lead her to pouring herself into volunteer work. She was active in many charitable and civic organizations starting with The Junior League of Houston. She was active in the Symphony League and chaired the Symphony Ball in 1998. She co-chaired the gala for the University of Houston. She served on the board of directors for the Cystic Fibrosis foundation for over 30 years due to her love for a family member who suffered from Cystic Fibrosis. She also served on the board of directors for the Moore School of Music where she was honored with a lifetime achievement award for her service to the arts and music in the city of Houston.
As a 6th generation Texan, she was a descendent of a long line of pioneers, which resulted in her becoming a member of The Daughters of the Texas Republic, a 4th generation descendent of one of the original Real Daughters, a member of the Daughters of the American revolution, eligible membership of Magna Carta Dames, the Jamestown Society, and the Daughters of the War of 1812.
She was actively involved in the Less than the Least prison Ministry, broadcasting to the inmates of Judamom, and serving as the judge of their annual prison art contest. She was able to touch the hearts of many men and accompanied Brother Zeke over the radio and went into the women's prison for a concert where she played her flute. She loved serving in the Regent University family.
She was a great athlete, excelling at golf, tennis, water- and snow-skiing. Judy was an animal lover especially of her cats Max, Chiquita and Bonita. She was a gifted artist, and a talented musician, using her lovely voice and beautiful presence as a member of St. Martin's Parish Choir for many years. With Judy's love for artwork and colors we ask you to wear colors on Friday in celebration of her life. Judy will always be remembered for her radiant beauty and her stunningly bright light shining from within. She was truly one of God's earthly angels to the many who mourn her loss, but we rejoice with the heavenly angels that she is now at peace in the Glory of God.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening on Thursday, the 30th of May, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A funeral service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 31st of May, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Russell J. Levenson, Jr., Rector, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Bagby Parish Hall.
The interment is to follow, at three o'clock in the afternoon, at McAdams Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas, where the Rev. Katherine "Kate" F. Picot, Associate Rector for Pastoral Care and Prayer Ministries at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston, is to officiate.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that charitable contributions in memory of Judy Page Maynard be directed to Less than the Least Ministries in honor of Judamom, P.O. Box 750699, Houston, TX, 77275-0699; or to Regent University, Office of Advancement, 1000 Regent University Drive, ADM128, Virginia Beach, VA, 23464.
