Carolyn...may you now be free of all the pain...I know you are in a good place now. I have many wonderful memories of our times together and will always reflect on them fondly, from our Geometry class at Westchester Senior High School to our fun times in Austin in the 60's and early 70s', our honeymoon in Mexico, our apartments in Lubbock and Austin, and later when we got together in Austin and Houston for visits.

Condolences to Jo, Leigh, and Charlie.

Fondly, Bob/Bobby

Carolyn Hughes

Carolyn Hughes was born August 11, 1951 in Shreveport Louisiana and died December 20, 2015 in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father Jack Eugene Hughes and her brother Jack Eugene Hughes, Jr.

Carolyn graduated from Westchester High School in 1969 and continued her education at Tyler Junior College and the University of Texas in Austin. Carolyn worked in the oil & gas industry for a number of years where she developed numerous relationships and made many friends.

Carolyn was always a very curious child and often played the role of her mother when she was younger. She had a tremendous memory and could remember the tiniest detail about events in the family. This carried over into her personal life as she kept meticulous details of her personal affairs. She loved people, was a happy go lucky person, loved to tell stories and enjoyed her family immensely where she would hold court with individual family members at family events. Although Carolyn did not have children of her own she dearly loved her nephew and nieces. She was alert to the very end and never wanted her family to leave her when they visited. Carolyn will be greatly missed by her family and all those who got the opportunity to meet and know her.

Carolyn is survived by her mother Melba Jo Hughes Travis, her younger sister and brother Georgia Leigh Hughes and Charles Gantt Hughes, her nephew, Travis Olson Hughes and her nieces Laura Anne Hughes and Emily Elizabeth Hughes as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Caring Forever Foundation at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church or a Charity of your choosing.

A Memorial Service celebrating Carolyn's life will be held Monday, December 28, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Memorial Drive Untied Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77079. A reception will follow services in Friendship Court on the church grounds.
