Cathy had a genius IQ and won the spelling bee in her elementary school in Tulsa, OK and was in accelerated math classes. She moved to Houston during her high school years, and learned to speak fluent Spanish. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Juan de la Cruz Amaya, and her sisters, Linda and Gayle Conner, also graduates of Westchester High School, classes of '71 and '72. Cathy's dear friends included Abb Knight, Greg Puckett (now deceased) and Karen Carlson, also graduates of Westchester High School.
