You were the first girl that I ever liked when I was a kid. Back in our days together at Rummel Creek Elementary School I recall sitting with you on a school bus during a field trip. I think Mrs. Jelson asked me if you were my girlfriend. I didn’t what to say. I pretended to have lost my voice so I wouldn’t have to say anything for the rest of the field trip. Of course, how silly that was, but I was just a kid.
I always liked you, but you were so far out of my league. I think you had older boyfriends in high school. I thought you graduated early and went on medical school. I never heard anything about you again.

Dear Dixie,
You were the first girl that I ever liked when I was a kid.
But I still keep your memory in my heart.
