Anne "Annie" Marie Gabig (Wingo) - Class Of 1980

Anne "Annie" Marie Gabig Wingo

May 21, 1962 - August 25, 2022

If you were fortunate enough to have known her, you know that Annie Wingo was one of the most loving, giving, loyal, easy going, and welcoming people you could ever hope to encounter. Her joyful spirit impacted everyone she met. She was a wonderful teacher, a great sister and daughter, devoted wife, an amazing mother, an incredible grandmother-“Honey” to her grandchildren, and a dear friend. After her 9 month battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully at home with her husband, children, and best friend-Julie Laine, by her side.

Annie got involved in Young Life as a high schooler in Houston TX & there began her walk with Jesus. The rest of her life was a testament to her desire to please the Lord in everything she did. She met the love of her life, Kevin Wingo and they committed their lives to each other on December 17th, 1988. They moved to Bellville, TX in 1994, and fell in love with the community. Her life was spent in service of others. People were her passion and she showed this through volunteering, educating, feeding (cooking was her love language!), hosting, and a myriad of other ways that those who knew her will always remember. She loved the many years that she spent serving the community through the Austin County Colt Project, the Austin County Youth Rodeo Association, and Bellville Young Life. Annie & Kevin have always loved opening up their home, ranch and dinner table; embracing others in any way they could, especially their Canadian “daughter” Josie.

Music was another lifelong love of Annie’s, from singing the National Anthem at her HS graduation, to being a member of the esteemed Century Singers at Texas A & M(class of ’84), to teaching children’s choir & leading worship at her church. She could turn any situation into a song.

One of the greatest joys of Annie’s life was spending time with her grandchildren. She loved sharing time on the ranch--tending her garden, chickens, dogs, horses & cattle with her husband, children, and grandchildren by her side.

Annie Wingo is survived by her husband, Kevin Wingo; her children: Will Wingo and his wife, Ashleigh; Katie Heidemann and her husband Tanner; and Claire Wingo; as well as her 3 beloved grandchildren-Beckett Heidemann, Fletcher Wingo & Rainey Wingo.

She is also survived by her mother, Helen Gabig; and her 4 siblings, Mary Ann Plate, John “Jack” Gabig, Loretta “Retta” Yarbrough (WHS 1976), and Michael Gabig (WHS 1984), together with their spouses and children.

There will be a memorial worship service held at Bellville United Methodist Church on September 3rd at 11am. In leu of flowers, donations to help cover medical expenses are being accepted at 1st National Bank of Bellville(gift account in Anne Wingo’s name) or on her Go Fund Me page for “Annie’s Run Against Cancer.
