I was Mrs. Brand's student assistant my senior year. Also had her for government, so I took her class twice that year. She was so appreciative and fun to work for. She gave me a nice dictionary at the end of the year, which I still have.

Just loved my government/history class with Mrs. Brand she was a wonderful person and teacher. One of the few teachers I remember from 1968, she cared about her studends and loved teaching, I do have to admit by the time I had her class, I had all the answers to her exams. Those were the days. I have very good memories of her. Hope she is in a good place, now.

I will never forget Mrs. Brand telling us that she would haunt us forever if we did not vote. I took her seriously and remain a faithful voting citizen. What an impact!  I now tell my students the same. Loved and respected Mrs Brand.  Great person and teacher.

Mrs. Brand was my favorite all-time teacher!  I could not find her obituary, but I did learn that there is a Spring Branch ISD award, one of the District's very first such awards, entitled the Elizabeth Brand Teacher Excellence Award.  This special award was established in her memory by her husband.  The notation reads, "Elisabeth Brand taught in SBISD for a number of years before her death".  I doubt there were two Elizabeth Brand's at SBISD and no doubt certainly one of the finest.  Aside from her excellent classroom instruction, she had an uncanny intuition of helping students outside of the classroom. I was her student assistant my senior year (1968) and I credit her with bringing two wounded hearts together that resulted in a lifetime friendship.  RIP, Mrs. Brand.

Elizabeth was my mentor 1971-1974, as the head of the Govt & Eco department. She was kind, patient, and encouraging!
