Sharon Lee Cameron March 21, 1951 – February 17, 2012 Sharon Lee Cameron went to be with the Lord on February 17, 2012, at the age of 60. She was born March 21, 1951 to Raymond and Catherine Benjamin in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and spent her youth in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Her father worked in the oil industry as a geologist and was transferred to Houston, Texas in March of 1967.
Sharon graduated from a Westchester High School in 1969 and attended Southwest Texas State University. She traveled the US in a VW convertible bug with her side kick dog, Mushroom. She ended up in Denver where she completed her Surgical Technician Certification in the early 1970's. For two decades Sharon worked in operating rooms in many hospitals in the Denver area. Her love for the medical field and her passion to help others led her to earn her RN degree from Front Range Community College in April 1998. Sharon moved to Grand Junction where she worked as an RN at St. Mary's Hospital and Rocky Mountain Orthopedics for the next 14 years.
Sharon married her soul mate, Robert D. Cameron, on June 6, 1992, in Denver, Colorado. Sharon and Bob enjoyed RV-ing, camping hiking, traveling, and just spending quiet moments together. Sharon loved her friends at work and at play where they shared many wonderful moments and activities. Sharon was an active member of Fellowship Church. Her strong faith never wavered even in her sickness. Her love for people also led her on several medical mission trips in developing countries. Sharon's love knew no boundaries and her family was the most important part in her life.
Sharon's spirit will be carried on by her family which includes her husband, Robert D. Cameron of Grand Junction; her parents, Ray Benjamin of Kerrville, Texas, and Catherine Benjamin of Grand Junction; her sister, Kerry Benjamin and brother-in-law, Lindon Wiebe along with two nieces, Madison and Jia Wiebe of Littleton, Colorado; her two step-children, Robin McGechie of Phoenix, AZ, and Robert Kirk Cameron of Montana, and four grandchildren, Ella McGechie, Faye McGechie, Jamie Cameron and Jeremiah Cameron.
Services will be held at Fellowship Church on Saturday, February 25th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either Hospice or Breast Cancer Research. Sharon touched many hearts and she will be deeply missed by all.
