Christine "Chris"  Ann DeLorenzo Wylie

July 24, 1950 - July 21, 2023

 

Christine DeLorenzo Wylie, age 72, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on July 24, 1950, in Houston, Christine was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Eda DeLorenzo. She was also known by her preferred name, Chris.

Chris was a faithful and devoted woman, with a strong personality and a caring heart. She had a deep love for her family and was particularly devoted to her seven grandchildren. Chris was outgoing and made friends with everyone she met. She had a joyful spirit and loved to have fun, never complaining about life’s challenges. Chris was also a prayerful woman and had a strong relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Chris was a proud Texas Longhorn alumni and fan. Professionally, Chris had a successful career as an award-winning real estate agent. Over the course of 30 years, she built a thriving business and received numerous accolades in the industry. Chris loved people and loved helping them find their home.

Chris found great joy in her hobbies, which included participating in her grandchildren’s lives and watching their sporting events. She also enjoyed playing bunko with her friends and was an active member of the prayer team at Second Baptist Church, where she worshipped.

Chris is survived by her daughter, Kristen Burton, and her husband, Clay Burton, along with their children, Wylie, Bradley, and Brooks Burton. She is also survived by her son, David Wylie, his wife, Nona Wylie, and their children, Charlie, Ben, John, and Margaret Wylie.

Chris will be deeply missed by her siblings, Joe and Nancy De-Lorenzo, Ken and Katherine DeLorenzo, her twin sister Mary Lee (WHS 1968), and Liz and Jim Dale, as well as their families.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, David Wylie.

Services to celebrate Chris’s life will be held at Second Baptist Church on Monday, August 14 at 11am. Contributions can be made to the Broach Foundation (https://www.thebroachfoundation.org/donate) or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (Cff.org/donate) in memory of Chris Wylie.

Chris Wylie’s legacy will live on through the impact she made on her family, friends, and community. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and successful businesswoman. Her unwavering faith in Jesus, joyful spirit, and caring nature will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
