Ed Thompson was a character for sure. Married four, or was it five times, I forget, he was a ladie's man and a man's man at once. He was usually the center of attention by the force of his personality. He did a hitch in the U.S. Navy where he was an air traffic controller and then a couple of years later he was a chef at Churchhill's Restuarant in San Marcos. Where he learned that trade I don't know, but he was good.
Ed spent his final years on a ranch in Schulenburg, TX. He died in 2004 after Hep. C. destroyed his liver, I believe. His funeral was very crowded, which is what I would expect. Ed made friends where ever he was.

I was ED's roommate when he left Guam as an ATC. I had just got back from Thailand and he was nowhere to be found. I spoke only once to Ed after that. I am deeply shocked and sadden to learn of his leaving us. In the short period I knew him I can attest to his being a true character!
Ed and I were roommates at Blinn College, before he went in the Navy. Always thought about him, but loss touch when we moved to Midland. So sorry to hear of his passing.

David,
How much like you yo take in a friend in need. You are, and always have been, a class act.
Thanks for helping that Wildcat when he needed it most. I don't know cattle from sheep but I'd like an invite to your spread.
Chris Bigelow.
