BIRTH Houston, Harris County, Texas, USA
DEATH 17 Feb 2007 (aged 46)   Austin, Travis County, Texas

MEMORIAL ID Find A Grave #18088339

With great sadness, we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend due to a sudden heart attack on February 17th, 2007.

He was born March 5, 1960 to Edward Grubbs and Esther Turek Grubbs Bingman and raised in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Westchester High in 1979 and attended Southwest Texas State University. On September 16th, 1989 he married Joan Dumais of Austin; they have 3 beautiful children.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.

He is survived by the love of his life, Joan, and his children, Savannah, Nicholas, and Rachel; his mother Esther and stepfather Ron Bingman, MD; siblings and spouses: Cindy and Forest Arnold; Claudia and Tim Fahrenthold; Chris and Greg Johnston; John Villegas-Grubbs; Connie and Jeff Patterson; Mary Scot and Stewart Niefield; Kenneth Bingman; Elizabeth Bingman; In-laws Dottie Dumais; Jerry and Ann Dumais; siblings and spouses: Michelle and Matt Alexander; Laura and Brian Krause; numerous nieces and nephews; and many good friends.

Jeff had a quick smile and a warm heart. Men can aspire to be many things. Jeff's greatest aspiration was to be a Dad, and he was a gentle, tender, and loving Dad to Savannah, Nicholas, and Rachel. Jeff loved family, friends, and entertaining. According to his youngest Rachel, he was the greatest dad on the universe. "He would always cheer me up when I was sad." Nick loved the way Jeff helped him with his sports and said "He was always there to support me, especially when I was down." Savannah wanted everyone to know that her special memory is the way he would play with them, especially "monster" in the pool. As a very young man, he was introduced to woodworking and thus began a lifelong passion for the art. Jeff could build anything. All he needed was some wood, stone, and time. He had recently combined his passion for woodworking with his love of real estate in a new business venture of remodeling homes.

A Memorial Gathering of Friends and Family will be held at Jeff's latest project, 4123 Honeycomb Rock Circle in Austin, on Wednesday, February 21st from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of his Life will take place at the River House in Johnson City on Saturday, February 24th beginning at 2:00 p.m. Our heartfelt thanks to Rachel Malish, RN, the EMS, South Austin ER and the "angels" named Jenny and John who tried so valiantly to save him.  Donations may be made to your favorite charity. Arrangements by Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon, Austin, TX 78749 (512) 892-1172.
